Private label
This is the whole business, not a sideline.
Fennfield exists to make other people's products. The development kitchen, the specification process and the way the lines are scheduled are all built around that and around nothing else.
The split
Where the output goes.
68%
of output goes out under a retailer's own brand
32%
is foodservice, under a customer's catering brand
6
retail customers, none of whom we will name for you
4
food technologists in the development kitchen
We will not tell you who else we pack for. That is the same answer they get about you.
Three of our six retail customers sell what we make under their own brand name. Which ones, and what, stays inside the contract. A packer who names accounts on a website is a packer who will name yours.
Fennfield has no consumer brand of its own. Everything that leaves the site carries somebody else's name.
The development kitchen. Four technologists, first samples inside 15 working days.
The twelve-week path
Brief to first production run.
The dates below are the ones we work to. Where a stage slips it is almost always artwork or a raw material approval, and you will hear about it in the week it happens.
Week 1
Brief and feasibility
We say which of the six lines it would run on, and what it cannot do.
Weeks 2 to 4
Kitchen samples
First samples inside 15 working days, then as many rounds as the brief needs.
Weeks 5 to 7
Specification and costing
Recipe, pack, shelf life, artwork window and a price against a stated volume.
Weeks 8 to 10
Factory trial
A run on the line the product will live on, at line speed, not in the kitchen.
Weeks 11 to 12
Sign-off and first production
Your technologist signs the specification and the first run is scheduled.
Who owns what
Worth settling in week one.
None of this is unusual and all of it is easier to agree before the kitchen starts than after a trial has run.
The recipe
Yours if you brought it. Ours if we developed it, licensed to you exclusively for as long as the line runs.
The specification
Jointly signed, held by both sides, and the only document a dispute is ever settled against.
The tooling
Bought by whoever the quotation says buys it, which is stated before you commit rather than after.
The artwork
Yours entirely. We hold print-ready files and nothing else.
Bring us a brief.
A category, a format and a volume is enough to start. A finished specification is better, and faster.
